This resource reviews the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), a multilateral treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1966. This manual is provides instructions on the establishment and operation of law clinics in Kuwait. The manual is divided into seven parts, such as: defining the objectives; selecting the topics; overcoming obstacles; and establishing exchange programs. Comparative models and best practices from different law clinics around the world and used as examples.

This resource provides the text, in English, for the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families, which entered into force on July 1, 2003. It was used in The Protection Project trainings, organized by the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.

It focuses on women’s right to participate in political life with six sessions: making decisions without women; women and decision-making positions; obstacles to women’s political participation; the right to vote in elections; vote your conscience; and know your government.

This resource is the second module of the manual Making Human Rights Real: A Human Rights Education Program for Women in Morocco. This section focuses on women’s human rights in the family and the marriage contract. It includes seven sessions: the legal age for marriage; consent to marriage and the right to choose one’s husband; dowry, the marriage contract: the possibility of including clauses in favor of the woman; the marriage contract: how to negotiate clauses; polygamy; and the Urfi Marriage (traditional marriage without a written contract).

The Practical Part of the Women's Rights in Kuwaiti Personal Status Law and the Bahraini Shari'a Judicial Rulings documents two national campaigns on women's rights and family law launched by civil society in the State of Kuwait and the Kingdom of Bahrain. This portion also places the campaigns within the framework of the larger movement for family law reform in each country as well as advocacy strategies and lessons learned for women’s rights activists in the Gulf region and beyond.

This text from the 2011 Domestic Workers Convention focuses on promotion of decent work and rights for domestic workers. It was used in The Protection Project trainings, organized by the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.

This resource is the fifth module of the manual Making Human Rights Real: A Human Rights Education Program for Women in Morocco. The focus is on women’s right to freedom from violence and includes nine sessions: verbal violence; physical violence in the family; sexual assault; sexual harassment in the workplace; women as the target of terrorist violence; the impact of terrorism on women’s human rights; pimping women for profit; violence against sex workers; and trafficking in persons.

This resource focuses on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), a multilateral treaty adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1966. It commits its parties to work toward granting economic, social and cultural rights (ESCR) to individuals. The ICESCR includes labor rights and the right to health, education and an adequate standard of living.

The Family Law and the Kuwaiti Parliamentary Elections Survey captures a historic moment as Kuwait women first exercised their political and democratic rights for the first time. It examines the findings of a nationwide survey conducted among 1,376 eligible Kuwaiti male and female voters from all 25 electoral districts during the campaigns leading up to the 2006 parliamentary elections. The report also examines a number of variables that reflect the demographic makeup of Kuwaiti society and their effect on voting decisions.

The Unified Personal Status Law for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) represents one of the projects that aim at a codification of the provisions of Islamic Judicial Rulings, which endorsed by the ministers of justice in the GCC countries. The law consists of 282 articles, which include provisions relating to the family and personal rights: marriage, divorce, eligibility, jurisdiction, will, and inheritance.

This resource is the fourth module of the manual Making Human Rights Real: A Human Rights Education Program for Women in Morocco. This section focuses on women’s rights to property and includes seven sessions: women’s unpaid work in the household; contribution to household costs during marriage; marital property upon divorce; financial support by children in old age; the right to have a bank account; women’s right to credit; and women’s inheritance rights.

The Charter of the United Nations is considered the foundational treaty of the United Nations. The Charter consists of a preamble and a series of 111 articles grouped into 19 chapters. As a charter, it is a constituent treaty, and all members are bound by its articles. The Charter states that obligations to the United Nations prevail over all other treaty obligations.

This resource for facilitators is part of Making Human Rights Real: A Legal Literacy Program for Women in Morocco manual. It provides suggestions for facilitators holding women’s human rights sessions. It also focuses on characteristics of a good facilitator.

The course is designed to provide law students with substantive legal knowledge, focusing on how to interview clients, identify victims of human right violations, draft a pleading, represent a client in a settlement conference, and work with people from diverse backgrounds. The course is divided into divided into 13 units, focusing on human rights, access to justice, the right to be heard, assisting domestic workers, legal ethics and more. It focuses on Kuwait.

The one-page FAQ for the Arab Council for Judicial and Legal Studies (ACJLS) Rule of Law Toolkit answers questions such as: what is the rule of law? Are there gradations of the rule of law? How can the rule of law be promoted?

The curriculum focuses on judicial independence and its importance to the rule of law. Major themes include the importance of judicial independence, the two main types of monitoring bodies, and the importance of safeguarding judicial independence. It includes facilitator's notes, including key learning objectives, glossary of terms, activities, handouts and case study scenarios for a 2.5 hour session.

This file includes the full text of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), adopted in 1979 by the United Nations General Assembly. Described as an international bill of rights for women, the CEDAW consists of a preamble and 30 articles, defines what constitutes discrimination against women and sets an agenda for national action.

The comprehensive "Tunisian Election Law Handbook for Lawyers" describes and explains the country’s legal provisions surrounding electoral conduct. The handbook provides advice on applying Tunisia’s new Election Law and presents Tunisian lawyers with guidance on substantive law and procedures from the Constituent Assembly. The handbook also highlights potential areas of dispute and legal strategies in assisting citizens on election legal issues.

This resource is part of the ninth module of the manual Making Human Rights Real: A Human Rights Education Program for Women in Morocco.
